Answer:

When you were younger, did you ever ask your parents to drive you to your destinations, however they would say no? Growing up, children wait and wait until the day comes when they are finally sixteen and driving. They can now take themselves wherever they choose without relying on someone else. The law is deciding to increase the minimum driving age to eighteen. If the age does change, teenagers will have to wait longer until they are able to drive on their own. It can also affect many things that have already been established. Teen life, parent life, and teenagers’ independence will be greatly affected.

Teenagers benefit from driving at sixteen. Getting a driver’s license early allows teens to work, enjoy extracurricular activities, and gain experience to prepare them for life after school. Teenagers who are employed learn how to function in a workplace. Employers prefer potential workers who have experience. Working gives teens a small fluid income. Teenagers who earn money learn valuable skills of saving money and personal finance. Along with having the ability to drive to work, teens with licenses can drive to extracurricular activities. Clubs and sports allow kids to discover and develop talents and interests. Adolescents find future careers in extracurricular activities. In addition, teens gain independence and life experience from driving. If the minimum driving age were to be raised to eighteen, many high school students would not be able to drive before they go to college. Driving is necessary for college. In order for college students to travel to classes, jobs, and housing, driving is a needed skill. The minimum driving age should not be changed.

While this issue affects teens, it also has an effect on the parents. Parents welcome their children’s independence. However, they appreciate it for different reasons. First, it allows parents to spend more time at work without making plans for their kids. This is especially useful when students live outside the bus area. Parents should not need to use their entire lunch break to drive their children home. Another reason teenagers should be able to drive at sixteen is so they can arrive at their extra curricular activities whenever needed. It saves parents from taking time off work to drive their children back and forth from school activities. If teenagers are able to drive, they can pick up younger siblings as well as drive themselves home. Finally, driving allows teenagers to transport themselves to and from jobs. Depending on the economic situation of the family, it could be helpful to have a small amount of easy income into the family for support. Teenagers who drive benefit their entire families.

Parents, lawmakers, and even teenagers believe it is safer to wait until the age of eighteen. The opposition considers waiting until eighteen will teach teens responsibility and lower the chance of risk while driving. In driver's education, students are taught that during the first month of owning their license, new drivers are three times more likely to get into an accident. By waiting, new drivers will have more practice and experience driving. Sixteen year olds are more reckless and ill-prepared. At the age of eighteen, teenagers are more responsible and ready for maturity as they have finished their high school years and are going into college.

Although the opposition believes young drivers are hazardous, the scenario would be similar to if teens had to wait until the age of eighteen. Due to waiting two more years for a license, teens will be restricted from traveling, causing a heavy reliance upon parents. Parents or guardians will have to leave their own occupation in order to help the child reach their destination. Parental jobs would become strained or even lost. Opportunities to make more money would disappear, hurting families’ incomes and their financial status.

In conclusion, the minimum driving age should not be raised from the age of sixteen. The effect on teens and their families would be too harsh. The independence that teens gain from driving at an early age allows them to obtain experience in the workplace and on the road. Furthermore, shortening their time on the road may result in more crashes. Parents of teens should not be obligated to drive them to every after-school event, every weekend game, or to work. In order for teens to learn the skills necessary for life after high school, the driving age needs to remain the same.

theme and character predictions about the novel "brother" chapter 6-7

Answers

Answer:

In Chapter 6, Winston Smith confesses in his diary about a visit to an aging prostitute. This episode with the repulsive, objectionable prole prostitute exacerbates his desire for a pleasant sexual experience. Winston also thinks about his wife, Katharine, who has been out of his life for nearly eleven years. They separated because Winston could not stand Katharine's orthodoxy to the Party or her coldness toward him.

In Chapter 7, Winston writes of his hope that the proles, the working class, will rebel and change society. Due to their majority, Winston is sure that, if the proles would only become conscious of the fact that they could improve their situation, they could overturn the Party.

Winston also recalls a time in which he was sitting in a café next to three men who were later arrested and executed as enemies of the party. At one time, a photograph of these men had come across Winston's desk, proving that they were once in league with the Party and that, at the time of their supposed treason, they were at a Party function — proof that the men were forced to confess to false crimes. Winston threw the photograph into the memory hole for fear that this bit of real history and his effort to remember history as it actually happened would betray him as a thought-criminal.

Winston muses a bit on the Party's control over thought and realizes that he is writing the diary for O'Brien, the only person he believes to be on is side. He finishes this diary entry with the line "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows."

Analysis

The Party controls even the most intimate of feelings and acts between human beings. Love and sex are conditioned out of people at an early age, and only loyalty to the party is intended to remain. Because Winston still has some memory of a time before the Party, he is "corrupt" in that he still has an active sex drive; he longs for the type of relationship no longer possible in his society. Winston's repressed sexuality, which causes him to respond and react in various ways and appears to be a significant force in his rebellion against the Party, is emerging as a motif in the novel.

Winston naively believes that the organization of the proles is the only way that society will be emancipated from the Party. Yet the proles have no leader and are more concerned with getting a cooking pot than improving their lives. The Party line runs "Proles and animals are free." Winston envies the proles' relative freedom and wishes they would suddenly become conscious of the Party's deceptions. Totalitarian regimes such as the one in Stalin's Soviet Union had similar demographics — the working class out-numbered the leaders by a huge margin — yet they failed to recognize or harness their potential and were, therefore, powerless to change anything.

Note that the themes of memory, history, and fact are again recalled — the photograph of the former Party members is the only piece of evidence that Winston has ever had that proves that the Party is deceptive, that Winston's memory is correct. Nevertheless, he destroys the photograph either from fear or from precedent. Of course, even had he kept the photograph, he could not have used it for any purpose other than to prove to himself that he was right.

The idea of right versus wrong, in terms of the events of history and common knowledge, is important in Chapter 7, as it is throughout the entire novel. Winston is sure that freedom is the freedom to think that what is right is right — that "two plus two makes four."

Answer: First part is "bored. the second part is she is surrounded by a large family

Explanation:

In the above excerpt, "that" refers to the "bored". The second part is she is surrounded by a large family.

What is family?

A family is a group of two or more people who live together and are connected by birth, marriage, or adoption; all such people are considered members of the same family.

A family is a collection of individuals who have the same ancestors and are linked by blood or marriage, such as our parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, siblings, sisters, and cousins.

"That" alludes to the "bored" in the preceding excerpt. The second point to mention is that she is accompanied by a huge family.

According to the passage, "Janaki, you're extremely fortunate to have such a large family! I get bored when it's just Mom and Dad. Janaki, on the other hand, was not. How could she possibly be bored? Janaki grinned as she looked about. Five relatives were on her and her sister's bed, playing a board game as the ceiling fan whirred overhead."
